2026 Habitat Episcopal Kick-Off and Build
This summer, you are invited to take place in our first Habitat for Humanity home build in more than ten years, coordinated alongside five other Episcopal churches and organizations (Calvary, St. Matthew’s, St. Mark’s, St. Luke’s, and the Episcopal Urban Partnership)! The “Raise the Roof” kick-off event will be June 24 through 26 at the work site (see the Realm event for details) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On June 26, we will share lunch (free and open to all!) with St. Matthew’s, perform a house blessing, and be introduced to the new homeowner. All are welcome on this special day, even those who simply want to celebrate without swinging a hammer! Volunteers are warmly welcomed and encouraged to continue building and assisting with construction tasks for up to 16 weekends thereafter.
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville are on a mission to combat housing insecurity in our area. One third of all Louisville families experience economic and personal instability because of a lack of permanent quality housing. Habitat has built 670 homes in Louisville to date, and they are planning 32 new homes this year alone. The new homeowner for our build is a Louisville native who is the single father of two sons. He has undergone a rigorous application process, will be required to provide 400 hours of sweat equity, and will then have a manageable home loan to pay off. By partnering with Habitat and constructing this home together from the ground up, we will help this family achieve the strength, peace, and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves, and fulfill our Commandment to love our neighbors in a tangible way.

Registration helps Habitat know how many volunteers to expect, and they aim for 15 daily volunteers, with 3-4 from each church/group.
