Baptismal Preparation

At St. Francis, we believe that the sacraments are genuine encounters with the living God, and we want our children to be formed in that belief from the very beginning. We baptize children of any age, consistent with the practices of the Ancient Church.

We ask that families presenting a child for baptism be active, worshiping members of St. Francis and participate in baptismal preparation through the St. Francis Catechumenate or through specially scheduled Baptism Preparation courses. These classes are designed to help parents and godparents understand the promises they will make on behalf of their child and the life of faith those promises set in motion.

All baptisms take place during Sunday worship, on dates the Church has set apart as especially appropriate for this sacrament. We do not offer private baptisms; the whole parish gathers to welcome each newly baptized child into the household of God.
