Rector’s Forum: Virtue and Vice

What actually moves us—toward goodness or toward disordered desires? The Christian tradition understands virtues and vices not merely as “good habits” and “bad habits,” but as expressions—healthy or disordered—of deeply human desires. In this seven-week Rector’s Forum, we will explore the classic virtues and vices as a mirror held up to our own lives, helping us better understand what makes us tick.
Framed within the lifelong, Spirit-empowered process of “Sanctification,” this class will invite participants into deeper self-knowledge, greater wisdom, and a more peaceable way of life. By attending carefully to character, habit, and desire, we will consider how God, by grace, turns us from vice toward virtue, and forms us more fully into the likeness of Christ.
The class meets for seven weeks, from February 8 through March 22, and is open to all who desire to grow in spiritual maturity and intentional Christian living.
