In the earliest days of Christianity, believers would gather in the dark hours ending before dawn on Easter Sunday to celebrate the risen Lord. This practice is preserved in the Episcopal Church in the liturgy of the Great Vigil, which will be observed at St. Francis this year on April 8, beginning at 8 p.m. This sacred Easter celebration begins in darkness and consists of four parts: the Service of Light, the Service of Lessons, Holy Baptism, and the Eucharist. Join us for this powerful service of worship and praise and see Easter in a new “light.”
