We are having our 17th annual Youth Spring Retreat at Country Lake, March 8 through 10, and we ask you to encourage your youth to participate. A church retreat is something miraculous. It is a time to bond with others in the youth group and form lasting, Christ-centered relationships with youth and adults alike. We know that your children will greatly benefit if they join us for this action-packed weekend filled with Bible study, games, community building, singing and fun.
This spring, we will explore the theme “FEARLESS: Conquering the fear that holds you back.” 2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” I believe that fear holds many youth and adults back being all that God called them to be. Whether it’s insecurity, doubt, fear of rejection, or the fear of un-met expectations, fear holds many of us back. The problem with this is, and we will discuss this in our sessions, is that God has called us to face our fears and lean-in to who He desires us to be. Scripture is clear: God empowers us to meet the tasks He’s set in front of us. In our sessions we will look at four powerful moments from Jesus’ life where He modeled for us what it means to be fearless. We will see what Scripture has to say about being bold in the face of whatever the world throws our way, empowering us to do the same. I believe this will challenge us to confidently embrace the plan God has for each of us.
As Christians, we know that the success of all our relationships hinges on our most important relationship: the one we have with Jesus Christ. That is why a retreat is such a special time for our youth: they learn that discipleship is not practiced in a vacuum. Taking hold of our beliefs is one of the biggest decisions we make as Christians and there is no better place for our young people to step toward that decision than a nurturing community like the St. Francis youth group.
We will be returning to Country Lake Christian Retreat this spring. To be guaranteed a spot, you must sign up and pay by February 24 at the very latest! Unfortunately, we can’t accept anything submitted after this date, so please mark your calendars!
The cost for this weekend is $105. Scholarship money is available. We encourage all participants to come and we will work out the payments. PLEASE call Raleigh Langley or Libby Garfield with any questions. There is also going to be a “FEARLESS” themed t-shirt for an extra $10. There is a limited number of t-shirts so please reserve yours soon. We will leave St. Francis on Friday, March 8 at 4:00 p.m.—some of you might need a quick release form for school or might be a little bit late—and will return on Sunday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. Please contact Raleigh or Libby to reserve your spot today, as space is limited! Remember that a current Parent Consent Form and a Retreat Registration Form (or online registration) is required for participation.
Please help us encourage your child to participate. It’s important that you let us know by February 24 if your youth will be attending so that reservations can be made. Thank you for all of your help, and we hope you and your children are as excited for this wonderful weekend as we are!
