  • William F. Cook, III, Wednesday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m.

    Professor of New Testament in Interpretation (2000)

    Prior to coming to Southern Seminary, Mr. Cook was associate professor of New Testament and chair of the theology division at Florida Baptist Theological College where he taught for nine years. He is the author of several articles and numerous book reviews as well as a commentary titled John: Jesus Christ is God. Mr. Cook has served as a pastor and interim pastor in Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida, and he is a popular Bible conference preacher. He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. Mr. Cook currently serves as the Lead Pastor at Ninth and O Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.

  • Martha Kaster , Wednesday, December 12 at 6:30 p.m.

    After receiving her BA from Franklin & Marshal College in 1990, Rev. Kaster worked for the Fellowship of Christian in Universities and Schools (FOCUS) for 8 years before going into the discernment process with the Diocese of Central Florida. She was the lay chaplain at St. Edward's Episcopal School for 2 years before attending Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (TESM). Received a MDiv from TESM in 2006 and was hired as the Assistant Priest at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Des Moines and was also direct commissioned into the US Army in order to become a Chaplain and fully accessioned as a Chaplain in the Iowa Army National Guard in January 2009. Was deployed to Afghanistan as a Battalion Chaplain for the Infantry from 2010-11 and later was installed as the Rector of St. Luke's. She continues to serve in the parish as well as the Brigade Chaplain for the 2/34th Infantry Brigade Combat Team within the Iowa National Guard.

  • Richard Gwathmey, Wednesday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m.

    Mr. Gwathmey attended the University of Virginia for college and law school, after which he practiced law in New York City. There he encountered the ministry of FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools), a para-church ministry primarily to teenagers in independent schools in the Northeast. He left the practice of law and went to work for FOCUS in 1978, holding various positions on and off till 2016. It was at FOCUS that he met Simon Barnes (who became his boss). Mr. Gwathmey is a friend and was best man in Simon and Lucy's wedding.
