2019 Men's Retreat

  • Saint Meinrad Archabbey (map)

Please join us for a what should promise to be a great weekend of relaxation and renewal.  We have a very special retreat leader this year, the Very Reverend John Irvine.  He was a barrister in London prior to his ordination to the priesthood.  He was one of the founders of the Alpha course and a former Dean of Coventry Cathedral.  We are very fortunate to be able to have such a leader this year.

Outside of retreat sessions there will be opportunities for sporting activities or just quiet contemplation time.  More to come on specific activities.

The cost for the retreat is $185 for a double occupancy room (6 available) and $240 for a single occupancy room (14 available). Registration includes two nights lodging plus meals. Please look at your calendar and consider joining us for this great weekend.

About John Irvine

John and Andrea Irvine

John and Andrea Irvine

The Very Rev. John Irvine, MA, was converted to Christ while doing his bar exams in London after his first degree in law at Sussex University. He practiced at the bar for six years mainly in crime! During this time he married Andrea (Andy). They became very involved in youth work in their local church and gradually John felt the call to ordination. After a theology degree from Oxford, John was curate at Holy Trinity, Brompton from 1981 to 1985 where he was much involved in the development of the Alpha Course. In 1985, he led the first church plant from HTB to St. Barnabas, Kensington where they served for 16 years. During this time, St. Barnabas grew to be a healthy larger church and itself planted two churches further west. In 2001, John was appointed Dean of Coventry. In 2012, he moved on to be Associate Vicar of Holy Trinity, Cambridge, a lively student church in the middle of town. In 2016, John and Andrea moved to the south coast where they are now involved in the local church. Andrea is herself ordained as a permanent Deacon. She and John have four grown up children and six grandchildren. They enjoy theatre, travel, walking and reading. They are passionate about sharing Jesus with unbelievers, teaching from the Bible and equipping Christians to live and work in the power of the Holy Spirit.
