What does it look like\, in practical terms\, to love my neighbor? Throughout church history\, believers have wrestled with these issues; during a period of radical change and crises in the twelfth century\, Christians found these questions particularly compelling. We’ll explore the way several medieval Christian thinkers understood love of God and love of neighbor\, and we’ll discuss some suggestions for how we might incorporate their ideas into our own context. \n“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart\, and with all thy soul\, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
