I Will Tell of Your Greatness: Studying the Psalms with Dr. Duane Garrett
October 19 @ 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm
The Psalms are the prayerbook and hymnal of Holy Scripture. We hear them every week, and many of us have parts of them memorized! But that doesn’t mean that they aren’t sometimes bewildering. Why do the Psalms ask God to punish our enemies? Are the Psalms still relevant to us today? What did Jesus know about the Psalms? What do we need to know?
Join us on Wednesday Nights, beginning October 19 at 6:30 pm to learn more about the Psalms with Dr. Duane Garrett, Professor of Old Testament at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
- October 19: Psalms 3 and 11: Why do the Psalms always call on God to punish the “enemy”?
- October 26: Psalm 22: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Does the psalm predict the crucifixion?
- November 2: Psalm 23: Everybody’s favorite psalm; What it means and does not mean.
- November 9: Psalm 51: How does David’s confession of his sin relate to us?
If you’d like to join us for dinner at 5:45, you can register on the events section of our website.
