Special offering in July of 2016: AA and the Church
Two of the great institutions of our time were established by God in His plan to bring hope to the hopeless: Alcoholics Anonymous and The Church of Jesus Christ. Join Rev. Bob Coon and Ken Reutlinger during the month of July at the Rector’s Forum (9am in Graves Hall) to see how these two powerful entities are similar, how they differ in their ministry, and how they make a difference and what each can learn from the other.
In an interview from 1966, Karl Barth is reported to have said, "The Pastor and the Faithful should not deceive themselves into thinking that they are a religious society, which has to do with certain themes; they live in the world. We still need--according to my old formulation--the Bible and the Newspaper." Structured around that vision, our Rector's Forum -- usually hosted by The Rev. Dr. Jady Koch but occasionally hosted by his guests -- is intended to help bring the great truths of the Christian faith to bear on the lived lives of everyday people.
