Men's retreat

Treat yourself to the laid back world of St. Meinrad – come relax, refresh, rejuvenate your relationship with the Lord, as well as great fellowship with the men of our Parish. Tom Welch will facilitate the workshop portion of our time leading us to make deeper contacts and become mentors both inside and outside the church. There will be opportunities to join the monks for a service in the Archabbey. Plus, there will be time for golfing, kayaking, spelunking or napping…and some great German food.

Cost for the weekend will be about $165/double occupancy and $230/single occupancy which will include Friday dinner, Saturday & Sunday breakfast. Saturday dinner is still in the planning stages. Mark the date – Friday, September 28 – Sunday, September 30. And, just say this is the year that you will do it!

The speaker this year is Tom Welch. Tom Welch is the current Executive Director to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He is a Mississippi native who has spent a lifetime mentoring youth and young adults whether through Scouting, the church, professional or civic efforts. After graduation from the Business School at Ole Miss he began a 30-year career in the insurance and investments industry. During that time, he served on the staff for multiple Cursillo retreats, having led one in both the Mississippi Methodist Conference and the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi. He’s volunteered for over 20 summers at Camp Bratton-Green in the Diocese of Mississippi and spent two weeks there this summer staffing the 50th anniversary sessions for adults with diverse-abilities.

Two years ago, Tom moved to his second career; one in lay ministry within the church and the other, as of June of last year, he was appointed Executive Director to the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. The workshop Tom will be facilitating will focus on mentorship, what evangelism looks like in the 21st century to those born after 1985, and how men in the church and beyond its walls can connect on a deep level with one another through prayer, study and service. One of the things he’s missed most from his career is the relationships he developed with his clients; even to the 2nd generations within a family. It is not uncommon for one of them to reach out for prayer even to this day. That takes an extraordinary level of authenticity. He would tell you the single most important prayer that shaped his career is the Prayer of St. Francis.

Come to our Men’s Retreat and see how prayer, among other things, can help bring the light of Christ to one another and the world.
