First Communion class

In the Episcopal Church, all baptized Christians are invited to the Lord’s Table every Sunday for Communion. It is up to a child’s parents on when they allow them to begin taking communion. At some point, however, every child needs instructions on the Biblical story of the institution of the Communion meal, the how’s and why’s of our celebration of Communion, and the significance of Communion to our life of faith. Each year, St. Francis offers a First Communion Class--usually in the Spring--to our 2nd through 5th grade children AND their parents to provide the instructions children need regarding communion. The class meets for three consecutive weeks during Sunday school. Upon completion of the class, children are invited to receive communion together as celebration of God’s ongoing work in their life and faith by grace.

The next First Communion Class will be offered during the 10:15am Education Hour on February 12 and 19 (please plan to attend both weeks with your child) and the First Communion Celebration will be during the 9am service on February 26.
