Nursery Ministry

St. Francis in the Fields Nursery Ministry provides a loving environment where your child can experience God’s love. We provide a safe and nurturing place in which biblical teaching, Christian compassion, and servanthood are demonstrated and practiced so that a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ can begin. We provide parents the opportunity to worship and attend classes, confident that their young children are in a safe and loving place. Our experienced nursery ministry volunteers and staff teachers serve in the nursery on Sunday mornings, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm and Sunday evenings, 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Location and Classroom Assignments

Our infant and preschool classrooms are located on the first floor of the main building and are organized as follows:

Class Age Room
Babies 8 weeks to 17 months 112 & 113
Toddlers 18 months to Preschool 2's 102
3 year olds Preschool 3's 114
4 year olds Preschool 4's and Pre K's 120

Signing In

Once a parent has completed an initial registration form, you are asked to sign your child in at the welcoming table in the hallway at the foot of the stairs. Each parent is given a site-based radio pager so that we may contact you if necessary. The pager will vibrate if we need you, and the parent should promptly return to the child’s room. All parents are required to be on site while their children are in the care of our Nursery Ministry Program.

What to Bring

Please bring a labeled bag. We will provide a St. Francis bag tag at your request. Include in your bag a pacifier (if so desired), at least two diapers, a labeled bottle and all personal items your child may need. Personal items should be labeled before arrival. If you forget diapers or wipes, we have a small supply on hand.

Please bring appropriate outerwear for the season. Our Bye Bye Buggy is quite an attraction for the babies and toddlers, and your children will take walks outside when the weather permits. A sweater, tights, jacket or hat may be a determining factor in whether your child may participate in this much loved activity.

Health Guidelines

For the protection of all children and caregivers, please DO NOT bring your child to the nursery if he or she is ill. If a child becomes ill while in the nursery, the parents will be asked to take the child home. Nursery staff or volunteers cannot administer medication. Children who have experienced any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours should NOT come to the Nursery or Sunday School: Fever * Diarrhea * Nausea * Vomiting * Undiagnosed rashes or sores * On-going cough * Runny eyes and nose * Symptoms of childhood illnesses such as measles, chicken pox, mumps, influenza, strep throat or head lice.

Is your child too old for the nursery?

Children age four and older are encouraged to attend the 9 am service with their parents and participate in Children’s Worship with their peers. However, if your child is not ready to participate in Children’s Worship we welcome children over three years of age in room 114 during 9 am worship. You will need to come back to room 114 and move your child to his or her Sunday School room.  Our teachers are not permitted to move children from one classroom to another.
