St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church

Music Staff

Jim Rightmyer has been Organist/Choirmaster at St. Francis in the Fields since 1983, following in the tradition of long-tenured musicians at St. Francis.  (Grant Graves held the position from 1945 to 1966; Melvin Dickinson from 1966 to 1979.)  In his capacity as Choirmaster, he is also the director of the Choral Arts Society, a community chorus dedicated to performing choral/orchestral works from the Romantic and Contemporary periods.

Dr. Rightmyer received his undergraduate training at Valdosta State University and holds the Master of Church Music and Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  A Fellow of the American Guild of Organists, he is also a member of the Anglican Association of Musicians, the Royal School of Church Music in America, and the American Choral Directors Association.  He is married to Elizabeth Helm Campbell, and they have two children, Campbell and Robin.

Bruce Neswick  - We welcome a new associate organist to St. Francis in the Fields - and one who needs no introduction to those who are familiar to the world of great organ music. Bruce Neswick is widely regarded both nationally and internationally as an outstanding recitalist and a renown improvisor. He has won numerous competitions in both areas and is also a noted composer and choral conductor. Having served as organist and choirmaster in positions including St. Philip's Cathedral, Atlanta, Washington National Cathedral and St. John the Divine in New York City, he has recently been appointed to the organ faculty at Indiana University. We look forward to hearing his inspired playing at both our Sunday morning liturgies and our monthly Evensongs.
