Give Thanks
St. Francis in the Fields is a church that seeks to follow Jesus Christ as “the way, the truth and the life.” As a result of this seeking we are able to build faith + build family. Our call this year “to let the children come to me” is a reminder of our emphasis about life in God’s Kingdom. It is also a reminder of the Every Member Canvass and the importance of stewardship. This is not a plug for more money for the church. The church has plenty of money, an abundance of resources, and enough people to keep us going for years. This is a plug for God, and a plug for stewardship, and a plug for spiritual growth.
The Kingdom is about giving. No, it is not about buying your way into heaven. It is about giving while here on earth. In giving we make ourselves available. In giving, we demonstrate trust. In giving, we let go and we let God. Try it.
You see, the Every Member Canvass is not merely about money. It is more about mission. We have a terrific mission. The church is always at its best when it is focused on mission and not on the 3 M’s: money, membership, and maintenance.
So watch as your dollars travel to the lower level of the church where the action is! There you will find children being prepared to follow Christ in Sunday School. There is the “Little Robins” parent’s day out ministry. There is Wednesday night AWANA. There is Junior Youth Group. There is the Son Rise Singers and Mother’s of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) and Children’s Chapel and Junior Choir.
We believe “every home is a little church”. Through the generosity of the home and through the generosity of the church a partnership is formed that makes for a stronger faith community. Yes, our cry is “to let the children come to Jesus.” This year we want to expand and advance our mission and include a Third Priest for young adults. Further information will be sent to you this month and you will hear more about it from Bill Strench who is the chair for the Every Member Canvass.
