 Children and Young Families

Children's Worship

During the 9 am service (10 am in the summer) children are invited into the Davenport Chapel for Children’s Worship during the Gradual Hymn, just before the Gospel reading.  The children process into our chapel where they hear the Gospel read from a children's bible, listen to a special sermon, sing, take up an offering, and return to their parents just before Holy Communion.

Our children's sermons are delivered by one of our five clergy or ministry staff.  Each sermon is interactive and filled with examples that a child can relate to and learn from.

We encourage children to go to church with their families beginning at age four.  We welcome parents to come and participate in Children's Worship with their children anytime, and especially if your child is apprehensive about going to chapel without you.  Once you are all comfortable with the routine your child can come to chapel with his or her peers.

For babies, toddlers and younger children who are not yet ready to sit through the service, Nursery Ministry is available downstairs in the Sunday School rooms. Our nurseries are staffed by volunteer and staff teachers.

If you have any questions please call Lisa Ewing in the church office.
