Dear Fellow Parishioner,
Robin has asked that I help with this year’s Every Member Canvass. I have accepted and as fall arrives, the process will soon begin.
Taken from Luke 10:5, the theme for our canvass this year is “Peace to this House!” This house we call St. Francis is our spiritual home. A home base from where we can see daily the many good works initiated, supported and perpetuated by the members of our parish household family.
As members of God’s household, we are called to use the treasures we have received from God to help build up and expand HIS mission. So that you can see the incredible array of how OUR parish seeks to carry out mission, we will be holding our second annual Mission Fair on Sunday, October 21. On that day we will gather for a joint 10 o’clock service (combining our 9 and 11 o’clock services). Immediately following we will come together in Graves Hall, where all our ministries will be showcased.
Following this event will be our Mission Sunday, on October 28, where families will be invited to place their pledge on the altar. This is an outward and visible sign of the inward and spiritual grace that blesses this parish community.
As with all households there are bills to be paid and of course the financial wellbeing of the parish is supported by your annual commitment. Nobody likes to pay bills, but we all want to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ through the use of the time, talents and finances God has bestowed.
Thank you for all you do to encourage the spread of Christ’s work. As you open your pledge card this year, I ask you to remember the collect for the stewardship of creation:
“O merciful Creator, whose hand is open wide to satisfy the needs of every living creature: Make us ever thankful for your loving providence and grant that we may be faithful stewards of thy bounty.”
Thank you, Terry Strange
