Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and He is “the Way and the Truth and the Life.” (John 14:6) Accepting Jesus as Lord of our life plunges us through the waters of baptism into a fellowship with the living God and the Communion of Saints found in the Body of Christ-the Church.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and therefor it is the true compass for finding the Way. God, through Scriptures, interprets the story of our lives, and shines as a “lamp to our feet and a light to our path.” (Psalm 119: 105)
Through our Worship, and in the breaking of the bread, we encounter the Risen Lord as did the early disciples on the Road to Emmaus. (Luke 24:31)
Worship in Spirit and in Truth keeps us from conforming to the world and transforms us into a life of Discipleship (Romans 12:2) whereby we are called to: “be watchful, stand firm in our faith, be courageous, be strong…and let all that we do be done in love.” (I Corinthians 16:13)
Love is self-giving (agape) and it radiates from the light of the Empty Tomb into the Church and into our homes; the sacramental love between a husband and wife is likened to that between Christ and the Church. (Ephesians 5:32)
With the love of Jesus we find joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control and taste the fruits of The Holy Spirit; (Galatians 5:22) by grace, we are then given spiritual gifts to love God and to love our neighbor as our self. (Matthew 22:39)
We are a church where Healing takes place. As we have been healed so we seek to restore and reconcile those who suffer and those who are estranged from God or their neighbor, with the power of healing and forgiveness. (James 5:14)
There is no one who is outside the saving embrace of Jesus Christ and so we are Evangelical in our call to serve and witness to a world in need. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” (Matthew 28:16)
We believe in the power of Prayer and as a result St. Francis in the Fields is God’s house, and “God’s house shall be called a house of prayer.” (Matthew 21:13)
Money follows mission. It is not that money is not important. It is just that our mission is more important. We give as has been given to us. The tithe is our standard of giving. Stewardship teaches that “the Lord loves a cheerful giver.” (II Corinthians 9:7) We are a people of great cheer.
