Outreach Summary
St. Francis has partnered with a number of area churches to assist Rev. Ken Boehm, chaplain at Churchill Downs ministering to a very transient and disadvantaged population who work in the racing industry. Many know little English, live in dormitories without mattresses, small rooms, tack rooms and trailers. Their needs are compelling. Spiritual direction, education, food, clothing, hygiene items, addiction counseling, and legal advice make up only the tip of the iceberg. We operate a "No Sale" yard sale twice a year to supply many of the material needs as described.
This is truly an outreach to “the least, the last and the lost,” but it may also bring jockeys, veterinarians, trainers, very wealthy owners of horses, and others to know our Lord Jesus.
